I have updated the Information Gathering Worksheets that help coordinate the discovery process for the creation of a new SharePoint site. These worksheets have been used multiple times in my workshops and have been updated with the latest feedback from my students and various users who have downloaded them from this site.

The worksheets are stored in an Excel workbook. It uses a top-down approach, starting with End User interviews to help define the content of the site, going through a step-by-step process for defining site architecture. Upon completion of the worksheets, a site administrator can easily create a new site based upon the specifications within the worksheets.

If you have previously downloaded the worksheets, please do it again to be assured of working with the latest version. It has some new links and some minor tweaks based upon End User feedback. View the screencast below for a quick overview of the worksheets.

    Mark,
GREAT tool. Any plan to turning the sheets into a tabbed site template with datasheets or list views. I was thinking this might help our globally dispersed organization more easily collaborate on new site planning. Also, what is the name of that great video capture tool you used for the demo? Thx, Matt

Matt – It would be relatively easy to import these sheets as lists and show people how to use the DataSheet view to do the editing and updating.

Nice idea. Let me know how your follow through goes.

PS: I use Camtasia Studio from TechSmith to do the screencasts. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
