A ‘Licensed’ Wiki in SharePoint

There are all kinds of ‘licenses’ associated with SharePoint. Have you ever heard of a ‘licensed wiki’? I thought not. Check this out and let me know what you think: The Licensed Wiki

I thought this was a pretty novel way to display many items when each could have multiple images and user generated content.

SharePoint to the rescue… even for a six year old. Have a good weekend.

That is so cool. My dad used to encourage me to do some interesting things like that. What is securespsites.com? I noticed you are using it for your hosting.

  2. Tom – I use SharePointHosting.com to create sandboxes for all of my workshops. That way, people can crash my area instead of their production site. A week after a workshop, I wipe everything clean and get back to zero.

Hey, for $20 a month, you can’t beat it.

    Hi Mark,

Do you get Remote Desktop Access? How about Central Admin? Webhost4life charges me $10/month for wssv3 on resing.net, but I can’t even install solution packages or web parts.

  4. Nope, nope and nope. It’s a basic Site Collection with Site Collection admin permissions. No access to the server. No access to central admin.

It works fine for what I’m doing. I know Asif and Wendy are on it, pushing out their screencasts. Also, Ian at wssdemo is there too, if I’m not mistaken.

Update: After doing a little research, it looks like wssdemo is hosted on its own server. My mistake.

Unfortunately, this is a good example of why SharePoint is not a good wiki… Posting a picture is a two-step operation, while a wiki would let you do it in one step.

I can get you some pictures of Chinese plates, but they are not as pretty as the ones your son found…

  6. It is regrettable that this site is no longer available?

  7. Deanna – Orion and I have almost 300 license plate images now! It was just too much to keep up with. I put them on Shutterfly and we print the news ones each month.

This has turned out to be a great hobby for both of us. Who would have thunk it?
