Today’s Screencast: A Little Interface Magic

Become Your Company’s SharePoint SuperStar! has become so popular, we’ve added another session for this Friday. Paul and I decided to show you a demo of the things that can be done with a simple Content Editor Web Part and some javascript.

Check out the 5 minute demo screencast below. If you find it interesting, register for the workshop to receive your own SharePoint sandbox, all the web parts demo-ed and live, hands-on instructions for implementing the solutions.

I cannot get the demo to play. I also went to register and noticed that the price has gone up since last week??? I believe it was $59, now it is $89.

  2. Hi Fran,

The screencast is a windows .wmv file. You’ll have to have something that can consume .wmv in order to view the screencast.

Yes, the price has been increased since the initial sessions. We ran the first sessions to see how everything played out and got feedback that we were WAY underpricing what we were offering.

Considering that third party web part solutions can cost hundreds of dollars, I think you’ll find $89 is an incredible value for the multipe web parts we supply in this workshop.

Hope to see you on Friday. — Mark

I cannot get the demo to play either. I work for a city and they normally block video but until now video on End User SharePoint worked.

  4. Allyn Easter says:

Will the training in this session be applicable to WSS 3.0?

    Allyn

  5. Chris O'Brien says:

Are these available for download afterwards? My concern is that I am not sure I can spare the 1.5 hours on that Friday afternoon but really want that content.

  6. Chris – I’m working on making these available on a subscription basis which will be available some time next month. Sit tight, and I think you’ll get what you need. Thanks. — Mark

  7. Allyn,

Yes, absolutely applicable for WSS. The demo screencast you watched was all done in a WSS environment. As an aside, these will also work in MOSS.

Good to hear. Sometimes it’s difficult to make the sessions.

I would certainly be intersted in a subscription service.

  9. Gigi Tarasow says:

Will this course be offered again?

  10. Gigi – Yes, but I can’t say when. This is the third week in a row, so I don’t foresee doing another session on this topic for a while.

If you need what you see here, you should register for Friday’s session, or send a proxy to tell you all about it.

  11. Darren,

I had to switch delivery platforms because BrightCove changed their service agreement. The screencasts are now served from ScreenCast.com.

Hopefully, you can buy the IT group a beer and have them allow streams from there.

I like what I have seena nd surely great stuff. I wanted to know if you have done something like: http://www.bbc.co.uk , check out the site and try moving the widgets around.
This widgets or web parts are moved @ runtime without edit mode, can this be done by JQuery? Do you have any directions for this

  13. Ketan – This is just basic AJAX stuff you are seeing on BBC. Download the Scriptaculous library and you’ll be good to go. I’m sure jQuery has something of the sort, too. — Mark
