Free for Download: Picture of the Day Web Part

Ever since I rolled out the Quote of the Day web part last March, I’ve received requests to provide a Picture of the Day web part, a web part that will dynamically display a new picture starting at midnight every night.

This short screencast shows how to convert the Quote of the Day web part into a Picture of the Day web part. As a reminder, this web part does not need to be deployed on the server. Download it, import it into a web zone in any SharePoint page and it works.

The Quote of the Day web part is available as a free download to all EndUserSharePoint.com Weekly Newsletter subscribers. Download a copy, make the changes shown in the demo and you’ll be good to go. If you like what you see, register for the live online Fundamentals of SharePoint Dashboards workshop beginning this Friday at 1:00pm EST.

Can the steps to convert the Quote of the Day webpart to the picture of the Day webpart be posted here? I don’t have access to the screencast.

    Thanks!

  3. Dan says:

If you don’t see the webcast playback above (blank whitespace) – your currently internet location is filtering it. (Thanks for clarification, Mark!)

  4. Patty says:

Where is the QOTD web part? I have been searching this site for about 30 minutes and all I find are references to it, but not the web part itself. Am I missing a ‘web part’ section on your site? thanks

  5. Patty – QOTD is a web part that is available in the Subscriber Only Archive. Subscribe to the Weekly Newsletter and you’ll have immediate access. — Mark

  6. Michele Mulieri says:

I downloaded the QOTD web part and love it, but cannot see the steps to the POD either and do not know how to unblock it. Can you help?

  7. Michele – You’ll need to know a little HTML to do it. Change the quote references in the script to HTML image tags. — Mark

  8. Michele Mulieri says:

    Thanks!

  9. Marcel says:

Does the Quote of the day allow the user to manually pick quotes? In other words, can they change to a different quote or picture?

  10. Who is ‘they’? End Users don’t get to choose the pictures or quotes. The person who manages the web part or list manages that information. — Mark
