Mind Manager Team Site Template available for download
I have just released the first Mind Manager Site Planning template to the Weekly Newsletter list. I figure with 6200+ subscribers, I can get some real world feedback on whether this is going to work or not. I have spent the past month working on the creation of Mind Map templates for the major architectural components in SharePoint. As I have shown them to people, there has been tremendous excitement about using them for developing site plans during brainstorming sessions.
You can get an idea of how powerful and simple the templates are by watching this 5 minute demo: Create a SharePoint site plan in less than 5 minutes.
I have made the decision to make them available to the Weekly Newsletter subscribers for a few reasons:
- I need as much feedback as possible so that I can continue to tweak them
- I need case studies on how you will use them and what enhancements are needed to make it really work
- I want to develop common solutions such as a Project Management Template or a Document Management Center template that can be dropped into any site plan, ready to go
But the main reason I’m handing them out through the Weekly Newsletter is because you have supported EndUserSharePoint.com from the beginning. You deserve it.
So here’s your first template: The Team Site Template. This includes the site plan, the libraries and lists included with a team site and the configuration templates for setting permissions.
It is saved as a Mind Map so that even if you don’t have Mind Manager Pro, you can still use the map with the Standard version of Mind Manager. For those who have Pro, it’s a simple click to turn it into a reusable template
I will be putting screencasts on the site to show how to use the template, but I would also appreciate your feedback as you evaluate it.

Can’t wait to check my inbox tomorrow morning and start using it! I’m wondering how you would like to position this in relation to the site planning excel sheet. We’ve created an extra version of the sheet that allows us to define Content Types and Site Columns, but I have a feeling that the MM solution will work better.

This is really useful, not only for planning but for documenting what you have done!
Short note, the RSS map part has a “Time to Live” which requires a number between 0 and 0.
It might also be useful if the custom properties have the default values pre-loaded as many of these are what will be used.
This is a great Idea, I am testing out Mind Manager Pro and I am having trouble figureing out what the simple click is to turn it back into a template! Any chance you could shed some light on this.

Where are many people currently at SharePoint Summit 2009, held in Montreal. We are looking for the download place. I subscribe, you gave me a password, but where do you log in.
