I want to do it again!

Stats for SharePoint Best Practices Conference - London 2009

These are the stats for attendance of the live online coverage for the last day of the SharePoint Best Practices Conference in London. The exciting part for me: this was with only ONE DAY’S NOTICE! Can you imagine what would happened if it was planned a couple weeks in advance? Let’s see… what’s coming soon?

Ah, I know! Atlanta SharePoint Saturday on April 18th! I would like to have live bloggers in each of the sessions on that Saturday. You don’t have to be a geek or highly technical, but you do have to be able to type and think at the same time. You’ll be able to post live during the event, upload images into the stream and provide color commentary on the sessions you attend. It’s the same as twitter, only you use your computer and you’re not limited to 140 characters.

In addition, I’ll provide live updates through the twitter stream of anyone who is twittering the event. I would LOVE to see a live twitter stream on a presenter’s screen in real time so that the audience can see it. Just imagine the immediate feedback for the presenter.

So what do you say? I really want to do this. Do I have any volunteers? I was willing to get up at 3:30am this morning to make sure everything was ready for the kickoff in London. Doing Atlanta should be a piece of cake. I can handle up to 25 live bloggers. Are you one of those 25?

  1. Christophe says:

Mark: do you think your online coverage could allow to relay questions from Twitter to the presenter?

  2. Ricknology says:

Yeah bring it on! I like the concept and it has potential to greatly expand who can participate in the event. Rick

  3. So I’ve got two volunteers so far, Laura and Rick! I’m going to check in on Lee Reed, too, since I know he’s going to be there.

    Lovin’ it!

Laura, are you going to display the feed during your presentation?

  4. Christophe – This will be done automagically if the commenter posts using the hash for the conference. It will be inserted into the dynamically generated twitter stream for the event. — Mark

  5. Lee Reed says:

I’ll do it as well. Just tell me what I need to do since I didn’t have the opportunity to view the live London feed. Don’t know what time I will be presenting on Saturday yet but will let you know when I do.

I’ll Twit for Laura and maybe she can Twit for me.

  6. We’re up to three!

  7. Ricknology says:

Keep in mind I’ll be a viewer incase I was included in the three volunteers? I won’t be in Atlanta but look forward to following the action! Rick

  8. Christophe says:

Mark, my question was more about the second step: how do we get the presenter to answer the question/comment?

  9. Christophe – The stream needs to be visible to the presenter so they can choose to answer the comments as they come in, or someone in the audience who is viewing the stream needs to ask the question of the presenter. — Mark
