Live, streaming coverage of SharePoint Saturday in Atlanta
Update: There is now an official Flickr account for the event. All images uploaded to this account will be available within the live stream for that day. Thanks, Laura aka @WonderLaura for setting that up. http://www.flickr.com/photos/spsatl/

Last week’s trial run of providing live coverage of the London Best Practices Conference was a smashing success! Based upon feedback for that event, I will be providing live coverage of this weekend’s SharePoint Saturday in Atlanta.
Let’s do some basic explanations as I start to expand on this concept.
First, live coverage means all tweets that include the hashtag #spsatl or #sps_atl will be included in the live feed, in real time. You can view an example from last week’s archived session. In addition, I have volunteers who will be blogging live from the sessions, in real time. The live bloggers have the ability to embed images, videos, multi-media – anything they can get their hands on – into the live stream.
Live bloggers for the Atlanta session include:
- Laura Rogers [@WonderLaura]
- Lee Reed [@SharePointLee]
- Dan Lewis [@DanLewisNet]
- Steve Pietrek [@spietrek]
- Dux Raymond Sy [@MeetDux]
- Lori Gowin [@LoriGowin]
If you haven’t seen this work before, it’s pretty cool. You can participate during the event, even if you aren’t there! Those not at the sessions, can follow along and add comments and questions to the stream directly from their browser window.
Tweets from participants at the event are entered into the stream, in real time, making it possible for a presenter to keep an eye on questions during their presentations.
Here’s how you can participate if you are at the event: whenever you twitter that day, put #spsatl in the tweet. The live reader will automatically pick it up. If last week is any indication, it will actually show up in the live stream here before it shows up in TweetDeck.
If you are not able to attend the event, put your email address in the window below. I’ll send you a reminder right before the event… no marketing, no sales, just a reminder. When the event coverage goes live, so does the window below. It will automatically scroll as new content is added by the live bloggers and the twitter feeds.
Live coverage begins at 9:00am EST Saturday and will be constant until the close of the final session. If you are at the event, I hope you’ll participate in the twittering of the sessions you attend. For those with a journalistic bent, I still have slots open for live bloggers.
I hope you’ll join us here, this Saturday, for live coverage of SharePoint Saturday in Atlanta. I know I’d love to be in Atlanta, but this might just be the next best thing to being there.
