5 Minute Screencast: Hack the SharePoint Wiki Interface
Original Publication Date: Tuesday, April 21, 2009
SharePoint User Level: Power User
During the live online workshops, I’ve been showing people how to use an HTML template to place a wrapper around wiki content to constrain the horizontal width and provide a master menu. Peter Allen from Bits of SharePoint ran with the idea and created a No Deployment Solution for hacking the wiki interface that any site manager or site collection manager with access to the Masterpage can implement.
Check out the screencast and then head over to Bits of SharePoint for the deep dive. Great work Peter, thanks.

Has anyone tried printing with this solution in place? I’ve tried just inserting code (per Mark’s earlier solution) and nothing prints when the HTML is inserted.
Jen,
Can you explain more, as I printed and the header and footer that was added did print as did the content on the Wiki page.
All,
I have made a minor update so that the footer in now below any added fields and web parts. If you have implemented, the only thing you will need to do is upload the new wiki.js file and the change will take place.
I have also added the great screen cast that Mark did and an Updates section to provide a history of things that are changed.
Here is a link to the site to get the latest.

Peter-
I must have done something to the code when I copied it – I can print from the original template but not from the one I modified.
I’ll have to try again.
