SharePoint Saturday: Recording of Mind Map Templates for SharePoint Site Planning
I recorded my entire session at SharePoint Saturday in Washington, D.C. on May 2. Here’s the recording. Hope you find it useful. — Mark

Hi, Are these templates available for download?
The link to the recording doesn’t appear for me (IE7).
Håvard – Sign up for the weekly newsletter. The team site template is in there for you to download from the Subscriber Only Archive.
Bill – Are you behind a firewall. Sometimes people tell me their corp is blocking them.
Mark, it is obvious you put a lot of work into the templates. Plus, I believe, you stretched the paradigm of mindmaps a bit I would say. Nicely done.
I would love to get my hands on the Site Collection template you mention in your recording – will you be selling it any time soon? Today I bought Mind Manager simply so I can use the Team Site template I downloaded. You’ve just cut the time I would have spent on designing our site structure by 90%.
Thank you Mark for sharing this with those of us that couldn’t make it to DC – I’m in the other Washington. This was the 3rd time I’ve seen you use the MindMapping software and it was enough to convince me the tool, along with your templates will be invaluable to me in my job as a SharePoint Information Architect. I bought it today! Can’t wait to get the templates.
Julie – Glad you found it useful. Still tweaking them out. — Mark
I subcribed to the newsletter but so far I have not received it. I would really like to download the template file. Any ideas?
Angie – When you subscribed to the newsletter, there was a link and a password to the Subscriber Only Archive on the confirmation page. The Team Site Team is one of the first downloads available in the list.
Regards,
Mark
Mark,
Thank you for posting this recording, mind map your templates and worksheets for site collection. I am a SP newbie and the tools have provided me with many ‘aha’ moments as I work on my collection project.
To fix the video not appearing problem I had to uninstall and reinstall flash:

So if I heard is right, this tool does not have a Deploy button which connects to the accepts a URL and moves everything to a Sharepoint Site. This is like an interactive document which can be shared between developer and architect to ensure both are on the same page.
Vinit – That is correct. These templates are for the planning stage, not for auto-deployment. – Mark
One of the questions you raise in your workshop is on the price-point for the “deployable” version. For me, I would pay a premium IF the version not only deployed what was documented in the mind-map, but also was able to check compliance after it was deployed. For example, three months later, when the site owner contacts me to say people suddenly cannot access a certain document library in his site and that he “didn’t do anything to the site”.
Let me have a one-button comparison against the original settings so I can know if something has changed. To make things simple, this could be in some sort of exceptions report and wouldn’t even need to show up in the mind map itself.
I cannot find the template(s). Do you have them in the form of mind map files (.mmap)? If so, could you supply the link?
Thank you!
Have a wonderful holiday!!

Hey Mark,
Nice work.
I will have a good look at it and see how and if I can use them on my current project. At this moment I am responsible for providing Sites (Collections) to the business and I see this mainly as documentation and reference material and I can provide a nice clickable PDF to give to the Site (Collection) Owner.
But the MindMaps are nice, and I got inspired with the Site Collection “Entrance”
