As those of you who follow EndUserSharePoint.com know, I have a high regard for the work being done by Christophe Humbert at Path to SharePoint. Over the weekend, he announced what he will be working on over the next few weeks, and some of this stuff looks VERY interesting.

Today, at 1:00pm EST, I’ll be moderating a live online workshop on how to Create a Dashboard in WSS. This is a hands-on session, where you have your own sandbox and implement nine dashboard type solutions in WSS.

Response to negative, online reviews

I have been working on a project with Ayman El-Hattab from Egypt SharePoint User Group over the past month. He has put together a series of screencasts, in Arabic, regarding SharePoint Content Types.

One of the recommendations I give in all of my SharePoint Site Administration Workshops is for every site to have contact information for the site manager in the top, right corner of the entrance page to every site. In this screencast, I show how to use LyteBox functionality to open a support page without losing the context of the underlying page.

You’ve seen this SO many times!” Well, Dux, it’s good stuff! So good in fact, let’s take a look at his recorded screencast to see what techniques he uses when building a Project Management Dashboard w/ SharePoint.

One of the limitations of WSS is the lack of KPI and visual status indicators. In this screencast, I show a technique for displaying status information as a bar graph within any SharePoint list or library.

Keven Hughes improved the concept by making screencasts available through a dynamically generated query string. In addition, his improvements make it easy for an End User to simply upload a video or screencast and have it “discovered” as part of the library, without having to do any tweaks.

I’ve created a quick, two minute screencast to show how a tabbed interface might be incorporated into the winning site design, whatever that might be.

Tickets went really fast for tomorrow’s workshop. As of now there are three slots still pending for tomorrow’s live online workshop, but that’s it. If you missed the workshop registration, signup for the announcement list and we’ll get you advanced notice for the next session.
