Rollout your internal SharePoint site: Announce it in a screencast… on YouTube!
Ok, this one took me by surprise. Kris Rzepkowski posted a video on YouTube, showing the features of a new, internal SharePoint rollout. What’s interesting about this is that it’s a marketing piece at two levels: the first for the company who rolled out SharePoint, the second for Kris’ marketing company. This guy doesn’t do SharePoint, he does marketing.
Think about. What better way is there to spread the word, in-house, than to do it with an experienced marketer.
Five stars for the idea… 3.5 for the content, because of that annoying music in the background. Definitely worth a look and thought.
Great to see material like this! Should really help train, spread awareness and improve user adoption. Here’s an organization that understands how to roll out a SharePoint implementation successfully.
Good job guys,
Richard Harbridge
Hello,
Nice video. Not matter how good the SharePoint application is, success also depends on the organization’s support and marketing is a big piece of the puzzle.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the shout out. One of the additional benefits of putting the video on YouTube is just to get feedback from the professional community at large to validate what usually gets seen only internally. So, your feedback on the music is interesting and consistent with what some of my peers said.
Also, just to clarify…I’m internal marketing at Hudson. Alongside the director of Internal Communications, I co-managed the project. We definitely spent a lot of time on the marketing and communications as a key driver of success (awareness and user adoption as Richard points out). Our partners in IT and Operations will help us drive more business utility out of the platform as we work to integrate Line of Business information. When users become so delighted with what they can DO with the platform, they won’t need a music video to get excited :)
Kris,
Great work! This is really fantastic! Thank you for sharing this with the community.
Awesome…I’ve seen so many organisations fail to invest adequate time in making their users understand what the new SharePoint portal is about, how it can benefit them etc.. this is an inspiring piece of work, thanks for sharing Mark… I’m spreading the news about this one!
Nice work Kris
cheers
