One of the big limitations in analyzing data within a SharePoint site is the apparent inability to create dashboards from data within a site. In this screencast, I demonstrate how calculated columns might be used to present information in a graphical format without the need for third party web parts.

Embed this screencast on your site.

This technique was originally introduced by Christophe Humbert, Path to SharePoint. If you like what you see here, we’d like to see you at the 3 hour, live online workshop, where we’ll get you hands-on experience implementing dashboard solutions in WSS.

Solutions include:

  1. The Graphics Menu
  2. Random Quote Generator
  3. My Task Assignments with Visual Status Bars and High Priority Markers
  4. List Web Part with Paging Mechanism
  5. Expansion and Contraction of Data within a Report Library
  6. Quote of the Day
  7. Contact Information
  8. LyteBox for Opening Transparent Windows
  9. Embed Analysis Images in Reporting Lists
