Tabbed Interfaces, SharePoint Calendars and Color Coded Columns

Christophe Humbert from Path to SharePoint is working on the labs for the live online workshops he will be delivering for us starting at the end of this month. He setup a demo page that incorporates many of the solutions he will be presenting in the workshops.

The first workshop, Easy Tabs Interface – Simple SharePoint Navigation for Complex Information, shows how to present complex information is a simple, tabbed interface. On the demo page, look at the calendar. It is embedded in a tabbed interface, each month having its own tab. Notice that when you click a tab, the page does not reload, yet the information refreshes for the choosen month… slick.

While you are looking at the calendar, notice that each of the events is color coded. This is part of his “Killer SharePoint Calendar Solutions” workshop. Mouse over an event. No need to drill down to see the details. Think about it: color coding with mouse over exposure of the event details. Seems pretty useful to me.

The second column in the demo has color coding based upon the trainer of the session. So not only can you color code the event, you can add conditional formatting. The third column, the Trainers column, is a simple list that uses Christophe’s HTML Calculated Column solution to manage the color display based upon the trainer. These solutions will be shown in workshops during November and December.

We’ve been following Christophe’s work for over a year now and are VERY excited to have him offer hands-on, live sessions for his solutions. The first one is on Wednesday, September 23rd at 1:00pm EST. Read the details or sign up below to guarantee yourself a seat to this first event. We’re offering this one at a very attractive price so we can get feedback from the first session.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Frank – sorry for the late reply, we were waiting for feedback on the first session to decide about another one.
