Who do you want to meet at SharePoint Conference 2009?
As the twitter stream for #SPC09 heats up to the point where it will spontaneously combust with news, events and meetups for SharePoint Conference 2009, I thought it would be interesting to see who you will be most looking forward to meeting at the conference. I’ve got my old stand-bys from SharePoint Saturday, SPTechCon and Best Practices Conference, but there are some people I still haven’t met.
Here’s the list of people I’m looking to say hi to. If I missed anyone, it’s because I’m going off the top of my head, not because I don’t want to meet you!
- Chris_Hougardy
- Isaac Stith
- Nicola Young
- Agnes Molnar
- Mark Rackley
- Michael Gannotti
- Jan Tielens
- Kevin Hughes
- Rob Foster
- Sharon Richardson
- Jeremy Thake
- Andrew Connell
- Ted Pattison
- Ayman El-Hattab
- Waldek Mastykarz
- All the people who have ever written a guest article on EndUserSharePoint.com!
So what’s on your agenda? If you could meet five people at SPC09, who would it be?
Michael Gannotti
Rob Foster

Andrew Connell
Ted Pattison
Todd Klindt

Nick Swan
Paul Culmsee
Members of the Product Team
I have to add, I’d like to meet anyone who has ever posted a comment or THOUGHT about posting a comment at EndUserSharePoint.com. That would be awesome.
I’m thinking about handing out stickers that say “I am a proud reader of EndUserSharePoint.com”, kind of like the bumper stickers they give out when your kid does good at school.

Oh crap, Becky listed some good ones too…
There’s just TOO many people I want to meet. :)
There are a ton of people I’d like to meet but my main goal is to find more people in higher ed. We have a bit of a unique situation and I would like to hear how others universities handle SharePoint.
It would be even cooler if instead of stickers/bumper stickers you did Temporary Tattoos. Those would be killer.
Are we allowed to carry/attach giant flags to ourselves? I am a little worried about how hard it will be to find many of you awesome people at such a large conference.
Okay fine… here are a few on the top of my list. There are SO many, so please don’t take any offense if you arent mentioned, there are more that I wouldn’t have room to list. So top 5 are:
Todd Klindt
Shane Young
Rob Foster
Bob Fox
Spence Harbar
Yes, I know this is a limited list, and there are many more, but these are some of the ones I have on my “MUST MEET” list.
Richard – I LOVE IT! Let me see what I can do. I live in NYC, so someone in the East Village has to have the capability of producing them. — Mark
Sounds good Mark! I will bring a pair of sunglasses and a sleeveless shirt in case you need a floor model. :P
Also does anyone have a big list of people going to SPC09? I am trying to figure out who all is going who I haven’t heard of/met that are active in the community. Even if I can’t meet them all there it would be great to follow up with them, follow them, or read their blogs. :)
Too many people to list, so I’ll list the twitter people I’m most looking forward to meeting (finally) in person:
- Mosslover (Becky Isserman)
- JoyKnows (Joy Earles)
- gannoti (Michael Gannotti)
- Karuana (Karuana Gatimu)

Haha brilliant Ben. I totally want one of those and think it is just perfect. Totally not too much for a personal brand.
It also could be used in many other situations besides the obvious conference/trade show ones such as at a sporting event, as an alternative source of revenue (no one said it had to be your ads), war/battle reenactments, marriage proposals (not as good as a banner on a plane, but maybe the low cost green alternative?), and more!
I’m just honoured to be on the list with my SharePoint heroes. Thanks guys and look forward to meeting you all! My list is too long to post ;-) It’s going to be a mission!
Brett Favre
Bode Miller
Billy Corgan
Jerry Cantrell
I can’t wait to meet Rob Foster – he’s such a hunky guy! I’ve seen him at conferences before but have been too nervous to approach him!
Jenny, are you sure you’re not Rob’s mom? Are you still trying to get him setup? — Mark
I’m really proud to be on the list with the SharePoint gurus. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it but I’ll be following the conference through EUSP.
Thanks again guys :)
Miles Davis
John Coltrane
Charles Parker
Duke Ellington
Dizzy Gillespie
Gill Evans
Spence,
Don’t mean to burst your bubble, but I’ve met and worked with two people on your list: Dizzy and Miles. I didn’t meet Gill, but worked with Brubeck a couple times, along with Ray Brown who used to play bass for a some of these players.
We’ll catch up in LV… maybe have a #ShareJazz night.
Mark
dude, there aint no bubble
Everybody whose ever helped me by writing good articles, blogging, forum posts & replies. Which includes 90% of people listed here (and now I am going to check out the other 10% for helpful stuff). But mostly, EUSP’s regular contributors and Mike G and Joel O (oh, that’s right, they’re now EUSP contributors). And I have to add Dale Howard and Gary Chefetz and Ben Howard for answering my what-must-seem-like-the-most-idiotic-questions on Project Server in the MS newsgroups over the last several months.
My top 5:
- Toni Frankola
- Claudio Brotto
- Mark Miller
- Laura Rogers
- Becky Bertram
My top 6 :

I am so excited to be on the list. No one ever wants to meet me, they always want to meet Shane!
Thanks!
Can’t believe I missed this thread. The list of people I need to meet is too long for me to remember. If I don’t find you first, please don’t be shy about flagging me down after a session, or at an event. Don’t let my movie-star good looks fool you, I’m really an average guy and very approachable. :) I’m way nicer than that Shane guy.

@Hugheser: My company is focused on higher ed solutions, and we have lots of experience with SharePoint deployments at the University of Washington. My business partner and I worked there for several years together before starting our business.
