At SharePoint Conference 2009, there was a lot of talk about how much and how fast the SharePoint Saturday series has grown. There are so many well known presenters, it’s relatively easy to put together a group of a dozen or so speakers for any given Saturday, speakers who are normally located all around the world.

All the talk got me so excited, I decided to help coordinate a live online, SharePoint Saturday Europe event with the help of some of my European friends: Toni Frankola and Isaac Stith. We will be coordinating a group of speakers who are willing to give up their time on a Saturday morning to deliver presentations from 8:00am to 5:00pm, based upon some central European time zone.

The sessions will run just like a regular SharePoint Saturday. The first hour will be an overview and keynote by a SharePoint luminary, followed by three hours of sessions, most likely three tracks to choose from. There will be a one hour break for lunch, and then back at it with another three hours of sessions. We’ll finish the day with a half hour round up, along with the giving out of prizes donated by our sponsors.

This is about as close as we can get to a real SharePoint Saturday. It might be a fun way to get your user group together, put up a data projector with a good set of speakers, order in some food and spend the day with us. Problem is, how are you going to choose which sessions to watch? I’ll let you work that one out.

Everyone I’ve spoken to is jacked about the idea. There will be no fees involved for the people who want to attend. All we request is that you make the commitment of your time to participate in the event.
