Has Common Craft’s “SharePoint In Plain English” started a trend?
There’s an interesting shift happening in how large companies are starting to present their products. A while back, Common Craft started putting their “In Plain English” videos on YouTube. These things are nice: simple graphics, simple language, possibly complex subjects broken down into consumable chunks.
Microsoft got wind of it and hired them to produce a video: SharePoint in Plain English.
While reading a TechCrunch article on the Google OS, I clicked through to a video that was the exact same format as Common Craft, What is Google Chrome OS? If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, whoever produced the Google OS video is completely in love with Common Craft. It almost sounds like the same voice over guy.
I’ve got the two videos embedded below. Take a look for yourself. Granted, they’re both pretty good, but my thought is there’s a possible cottage industry here just waiting for release. Hey, I’ll take one of those videos on “In Plain English: What is EndUserSharePoint.com” when either team gets around to it…
Update: The company who made the video is Epipheo Studios.
