SharePoint Saturday EMEA Recording: Intro and Keynote
I’ve been having difficulty getting the SharePoint Saturday EMEA recordings to play over an http connection, so I’m going to make them available for download so that you can play them locally.
Each session is contained within a zip file. Expand the zip file into a folder on your harddrive. There will be an HTML file with the name of the session. Click that file, accept the request to run an Active-X control and things should play properly.
The first session available for download is the Introduction and Keynote. As a reminder for those who couldn’t attend, Joel Oleson had difficulty getting a connection to VoIP, so we patched in a feed from his cell phone, through a desktop microphone on our end. That’s why it sounds like a transistor radio from 1959.
I’ve got 20 sessions to distribute, but I’d like to know if the download distribution method I’m using here works for most people. Please let me know when you download and get it to play back so I can start working on the other sessions.
Thanks.
Mark
Session Name: Introduction and Keynote
Presenters: Mark Miller, Dux Raymond Sy and Joel Oleson
Description: This recording contains the introduction to SPSEMEA, explaining how the day is structured and what to expect from the session. It is followed by the keynote, which discusses the SharePoint Community as a social environment and how it has begun to expand and support itself.
Mark,
Downloaded the recording and it was great audio, only wish I could see the slides. Looking forward to more.
Frank – Not sure why you can’t view the video. It’s all there in the package. — Mark
I think it maybe because I’m at work and it is the government ‘filters’ keeping things out. I will check it at home. Looking forward to more workshops.
Have a great day,
It would be helpful to have all the files in the zip organized in some way. I’m not sure how to put all this together.
Download works fine, video and audio.
Works fine for me. Thanks. Looking forward to more if you’ve the time to publishing them.
Kerrie – There’s nothing to “put together”. That’s the way it comes when recorded by Live Meeting. Click the HTML file in the top level directory and the presentation should fire off. — Mark
Everything worked fine for me too!
Thanks Mark. It all works fine for me. Looking forward to see all the sessions.
Works great.
Just unzip and open the html: 01-IntroAndKeyNote.html
It automatically runs all you need through your browser – currently working for me through firefox.
Looks great so far. Odd that the video in upper left shows as broken stripes (I’m on win7).
Too bad livemeeting recordings don’t appear to have a way to play in faster mode (like windows media player allows) so we can get thru in 3/4 of the time. ;-)
note: first two times I tried to download, the .zip wouldn’t extract. 3rd time was the charm!
In case the video for a recording is super large you can strip them out without affecting the replay.
This one is not that large but it is a high proportion of the unzipped files of 20.4 MB. In this case the video file is 10.6 MB for 12min52seconds of video.
C:\IntroductionKeyNote\IntroductionKeyNote\PubData\res\AV\QCifVideo.wmv
I tested this by renaming QCifVideo.wmv. The replay works fine without the video display in the upper left. (the slides and audio still play as expected).
Not that I don’t want to see you Mark, but for some reason the video is not displaying properly on my system.
