Free Download from SPTechCon: SharePoint 2007 Site Planning Worksheet
This afternoon I will be leading a hands-on session for SharePoint Site Managers and Site Collections Managers, ‘SharePoint Site Planning: Get It Right the First Time!’. The core of this three and a half hour workshop will be to work through the processes for developing a site plan for a new SharePoint site, as well as how you might consider updating your current SharePoint site.
I am making the EUSP Site Planning Worksheet available for download. Just because you can’t attend the sessions doesn’t mean you can’t have the resources.
This worksheet has been downloaded thousands of times over the past two years. It will help you organize you thoughts, starting with the initial interview of your ‘clients’, the people who come to your site, all the way through setting up the default configurations for each of the various storage units in your site.
Here’s a blurb from the SPTechCon workshop description:
“Using a step-by-step, proven process, you will end with a structured plan for developing your next site or restructuring an existing one. The agenda includes user and content analysis; storage definitions; library, list, blog and wiki specs; content types; and site lookup columns. At the conclusion of this workshop, you will have a site-planning worksheet and the knowledge needed to complete the planning process for your SharePoint site.”
I hope you find the EUSP Site Planning Worksheet useful.
Kudos!
EUSP Site Planning Worksheet. This looks awesome. Just what I need. I’m definitely a novice but understand the importance of this kind of pre-set up analysis to determine needs. I really appreciate your work and making it available. One question: On the Library Specs Tab, the tool tip says, “define the requirements for each library defined in the Storage Definitions workshop.” How can I find out what was defined in the workshop? Any chance you have a streaming video of the workshop.
Thanks, again.
Judith – Good news! It was a misprint. It should say ‘Storage Definitions worksheet‘ which is the work you did in the previous tab. You’ve got everything you need. — Mark
Strange .. downloaded and tried to open it with Excel2010. Msg is “File is corrupt”.
I’ve been having that kind of trouble with a couple files, too. Instead of saving it, open it directly and then save it. – Mark
Yeah, did that too. Same result.
OK, figured it out ..using Win2008 R2 .. added the url to ‘Trusted Sites’ and it works .. go figure.
