“I know you are, but what am I?” – A SharePoint Conversation
I get annoyed daily by the tweets that blast to the world how much SharePoint sucks.
Yeh, ok. Don’t use it then! “But my company is FORCING me to use it and it’s ruining my life.” Yeh, ok. Get another job and get on with your life while I continue with what I’m doing.
Jeezzzzz!
Mark, I suggest you consider a third option — stop following or reading tweets that you find offensive or irritating! Many, many people are in the situation where they have to use SharePoint and find it lacking. But it’s a sort of Apple vs. Microsoft debate. Not everyone is a SharePoint fanboy and you shouldn’t expect them to be.
Steve – That’s not possible. I have a search panel setup for “SharePoint” in TweetDeck. Whenever SharePoint is mentioned, it shows up in the panel. — Mark
If this is the way you choose — again, this is a choice — to get your information about SharePoint, then you must accept the bad along with the good. I do not think your complaint about the “SharePoint haters” is productive.
I use it and love it but it aggrevates me to no end at times too. Partially because of my technical/programatical limitations at times.
“You take the good, you take the bad, you add them up, and there you have, the facts of Sharepoint.”
No doubt, it’s frustrating at times. I’m talking about the ones that are out bashing just to bash. Steve’s point is well taken, but sometimes I’ve just got to rant a little bit to let some steam out. — Mark
I’m not a fan of unproductive “discussions” about whether SharePoint fits the bill or is a pain. However, you can’t fault individuals for expressing their frustrations. That said, I totally agree that the “I hate SharePoint” is an unproductive exchange starter.
