But like you said, it's going to be SPD and/or XSL which can get tricky and will take several hours to figure out your first time around.
kctAlsip on "limit number of items in list to 25" http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/topic/limit-number-of-items-in-list-to-25#post-3917 Tue, 03 Feb 2009 20:33:46 +0000 kctAlsip 3917@http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/
I will try to get the template downloaded into a lab machine, but I was/am hoping to do this with little customization.

I had read Natalya's blog before posting, but Designer is still about 5 down on the list of things I need to master. I through together lists for users to sign up for class, used the limit # to get the five sessions showing up on the page, who scrolls down to see what is there. I was hoping there was something I'd missed in options to limit size of list to x number of items. Most of the search returns ended up referring to limits on max size of list or maximum number of characters in a column.

Sounds like looking at list size and changing permissions to read is good enough for now.
AutoSponge on "limit number of items in list to 25" http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/topic/limit-number-of-items-in-list-to-25#post-3883 Mon, 02 Feb 2009 21:19:01 +0000 AutoSponge 3883@http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/
I think Natalya also addressed this problem on her sharepointforsquirrels blog.

http://spforsquirrels.blogspot.com/2008/03/follow-up-training-classes-scheduling.html
Toni on "limit number of items in list to 25" http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/topic/limit-number-of-items-in-list-to-25#post-3882 Mon, 02 Feb 2009 20:54:58 +0000 Toni 3882@http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/
Have you tried Employee Training Scheduling and Materials application template? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=B5206277-550C-44DA-A2D5-D7E32E3B6B8F&displaylang=en
kctAlsip on "limit number of items in list to 25" http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/topic/limit-number-of-items-in-list-to-25#post-3876 Mon, 02 Feb 2009 18:48:00 +0000 kctAlsip 3876@http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/
I need to have a list of people signing up for training classes. Room can hold a maximum of 25 people. The only feature I've tracked down will let me limit the number of people displayed at one time, but would allow 100s to sign up. Everything I've tracked down so far involves number of characters or how large a list SharePoint will tolerate.
