I just noticed, I didn't get any email notification about the replies to this post. Do you guys have that functionality on here? I hope I wasn't marking them as spam or something.

But yes thanks, will check these postings out, and also will try that LinkFilename column.
Erwin on "Modifying SharePoint search results displayed columns" http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/topic/modifying-sharepoint-search-results-displayed-columns#post-4030 Sat, 07 Feb 2009 11:07:14 +0000 Erwin 4030@http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/
2 blog posts about Customizing search results in SharePoint, more specifically about the people search, but this can be applied to the normal search too:

http://www.sharepointology.com/development/customize-the-people-search-results-part-1/
http://www.sharepointology.com/development/customize-the-people-search-results-part-2/

Erwin
AutoSponge on "Modifying SharePoint search results displayed columns" http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/topic/modifying-sharepoint-search-results-displayed-columns#post-4027 Fri, 06 Feb 2009 19:39:03 +0000 AutoSponge 4027@http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/
You're on the right track. Blogs are a good start and there is a great chapter on this exact thing in this book: http://www.amazon.com/Professional-SharePoint-2007-Design-Guides/dp/047028580X/ref=wl_it_dp?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1PKWYXPCL292K&colid=23LKZODUIJZHQ

I think the field you want is LinkFilename.
whoajack on "Modifying SharePoint search results displayed columns" http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/topic/modifying-sharepoint-search-results-displayed-columns#post-4011 Fri, 06 Feb 2009 13:41:18 +0000 whoajack 4011@http://www.endusersharepoint.com/STP/
Hello there,

I am close, but no cigar on the following... Want to change the out-of-box search results on Results.aspx to show the file or list item's "Name" column, instead of the "Title" column.

I see some posts on this, editing the XML for the Core Results web part but am just not putting the pieces together, and also am not sure what the actual column name is referred as for the item's "Name". Some of the columns seem to not be included in the default columns for this web part also.
