Append-only comments in a document- how big?

    In a versioned document library, how big can the append-only comments field get? What is the capacity- is there a way to set this or manage it? It the OOTB setting sufficient for what most people will anticipate using?

    I assume it's a memo field which has a limit of 2GB.
