Best Practice - Out of the Box Status Column

    1) Does any one know if it is a good practice to have a few choices of the Status column removed/more choices added ?

    2) When SharePoint is upgraded, will all of the out of the box site columns and content types be overwritten with new ones ?

    Greatly appreciate your time in answering these questions.

    1) You do what makes sense for your business users. I seldom use the OOTB values in that column (assuming you're looking at Task or Issues lists).

    2) No. The longer answer of course is "not in my experience" and there's always the possibility of a defect, but that's what disaster recovery is all about.
