When Content Approval is enable for a doc. library or list who is considered the Approver? Is it possible to change the Approver? Thanks

  2. Jen - Here's a direct quote from the 'Help' menu in SharePoint:

"When this content approval setting is applied, an item or file that has been changed remains in a pending state until it is approved or rejected by someone who has permission to approve it."

So the question, I guess, is who is considered an 'Approver'. Anyone who is an owner of that library or list is considered an Approver. In addition, you can create a new Permission Level and apply it to a group of people you would like to promote to approvers.

Thank you. I could not find this info under the Help section. I assuming this applies for blog site posting as well?

When content approval is in enable, does out of the box SP offera feature to have an email sent to the approver requesting them to approve the posting, list or document?

  6. jlschu1,

The approver is a role, not a person. So MOSS does not have any auto-alert functions for specific people. I think Mark would agree this type of work is best handled with dashboards and subscriptions (alerts).
