Discussion Board Attachments

As already described in an earlier question, for some reason MSFT completely butchered the Discussion Board in SharePoint 2007, I found it to be quite nice in 2003. Still, if I could get intuitive one or two click access to attachments, it might still be worthwhile to me. Currently, you have to click on the discussion, and once inside you have to know to click on View Properties, and then click yet again once there to open the attachment. It would be hard for this to be less intuitive. Any ideas?

    Thanks very much.

  2. Here's what I did:
    1. Create a new, Flat view. In the view properties, expand the "Folders" section
    2. Under "Show this view", select "In All Folders".

This way, you'll have one less click to be able to view attachments.

  3. I agree that they totally butchered the discussion boards, by the way.

Thanks for the response, it's still baffling to me what user is going to think to look under "View Properties" to find an attachment!

This is wild- take the view you created above, select the Attachment column and make it the 1st position from left. Next, under Style choose Boxed. Now the attachment icon sort of lights up and takes you to the View Properties page when you click on it.
