I want to create an SPD workflow that will send an email to anyone whose SharePoint blog post was commented on. So far everything I have tried is not working.

It was my assumption that a comment on a post is a type of "change," so I have my WF set to run every time an item (the original post) is changed. Again- I assumed that every new comment = a change to the original item.

The first action is to send an email to the person who created the original post, and body of the email contains a link to the post itself. I also have "Comment made by: [%modified by%]" included, assuming that this would add in the commenter's name since he/she was the person who "changed" the original item.

    However- it's not working!

Any advice on what I SHOULD be doing? Thanks!

    Nancy,

Which list are you associating the workflow on? The blog sites have two main lists: Posts and Comments.

You will need to assoicate the workflow with the Comments List - I would suggest when ever a new item is created or changed.

If I do that, will I be able to have the WF send a notice to the person who created the original post- not the person who created the comment? Which value will "created by" refer to when used as a WF parameter if I am associating to the Comments list?
