Hi ,
My scenario is as follows
In list there are 5 Columns
Col1 - User - that is person or group AD
Col 2 - Dept
Col 3 - Phone
How is it possible if i filled only col1 by ad ref . Col 2(Dept) , 3(Phone) to be filled exact dept & Phone automatically in Col 2 & Col 3 .
Please help me
There are three methods that come to mind.
1. Use workflow to populate the fields after submit.
2. Use javascript to fetch the data (from the lists web service) and pre-populate the fields.
3. Use a custom control/custom form.
Workflow can't be seen during the form filling.
Custom form "breaks" the form's LVWP.
Custom control requires programming.
Javascript is least intrusive but no help from WYSIWYG editors.
