Incomplete Survey's Not Visible

    Hi,

We've sent out a SharePoint Survey to a few hundred people. At the end of the Survey there are options open to the user - whether they click Finish or click Save. Anyone who clicked Save does not have their Survey completed correctly so it does not show up in the limited default Views on SharePoint Survey lists.

So the user assumes they have completed the survey yet the Admins cannot see their submission.

I have tried creating a custom view but that still only shows complete surveys - those where Finish has been clicked.

How do I see every SharePoint Survey whether complete or not?

    P.S. SharePoint Surveys suck bigtime!

  2. I called Microsoft tech support about this a couple of years ago. They said there isn't a way for the admin to view a list of the incomplete ones, and that this is by design.

I'd like to see the explanation for why it's "by design". Surely an admin should be able to see everything going on in a site if so desired.

  4. Nope... even as a Site Collection Admin, try to view some files that were uploaded and never checked in on the initial upload. Lots of little fun things to keep your mind busy. -- Mark

So the important question: Is there any way to get at the incomplete survey's?

I'm guessing it's the usual Microsoft trick - go burrowing in the SQL database.

  6. I hide the Save button to make sure I don't get incompletes. Users only see Next or cancel until the end they see Finish.

Paul, I tried the hiding Save button option but it only hides it on the first page. When you have a Survey with branching logic the Save reappears on each new page. Suckage!

I wish this was advertised on the tin before I'd published it to 900 peeps ... now it looks like I got to brush the dust off my SQL skills and go hunting for people who filled it out and compare that extracted list to the list in the Survey list. :/

  10. I have a screencast coming out (any minute now Mark!) that shows what you have to do. You have to put the hide script on new and edit pages.

To get at your "hidden" incompletes, use the all responses view. You can either edit the page and edit the web part's view or export the data to Excel. Then try to get those people to come back and complete the survey. If it's anonymous, you're boned :-/

Good stuff, I just mentioned this in a presentation today about surveys. Will have to get it created for deployment if needed.

The hiding save works great! Thanks a lot.
Not sure about the all responses method to get the "hidden" incompletes yet ... we'll try it out later.

The All Reponses method of seeing hidden incompletes does not work for us. It only shows completed responses.

    Any other suggestions for this?

Put the page in edit mode. Open the context menu for the list view web part. Open the modify shared view pane. Modify the current view. Try adding all of your answers and changing the filters.
