List Permissions

    Hi all,
I hope I am posting to the correct group for this question.
I have a list where the permissions are not working. I have one group and 5 users setup in the permissions of the list. There are a few users that are not part of any groups that can still access the list.
When the list was created the inherited permissions allowed everyone in, but they removed all but the one group and the people that should have rights to the list.
Can anyone tell me why everyone can still access this list? I flushed the cache which did not help.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.

  2. Maybe it's set at the web app level?
Go to Central Administration, Application Management tab.
Click on "Policy for web application"
Pick your appropriate web app from the drop-down list.
Look at the list of permissions there, and see if what groups have been given "full read" permissions, etc.

    Hi Laura,
    Thanks for the response.

I checked all the web apps in central Admin and the only entries are:

(All Zones) NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE Full Read
    and
(All zones) Search Crawling Account [system Account] Full Read

These should not be an issue correct? Is thre a place I can see my all my lists from there?

    Thanks again,
    Joe

Is it possible these users are site collection administrators. I believe that superceeds item and list level permissions.

If all else fails, try reinheriting permissions on the list from the parent and break the permission inheritance again.

They are in a group that have read rights to the main page of this site.

    Thanks,
