Hello,
I recently created a list that will be used as an FAQ. I created it on a site collection that I use to test some new ideas. The site collection is a regular ENGLISH collaboration site. I later saved my list as a template (FAQ.stp) and tried importing it on our production environment, which is a FRENCH collaboration site, but it didn't work. It seems to be because of the difference of language. Is this really a restriction? If so, why? And is there any way to get around that restriction?
Thanks.

We had a touch of this with a client last month. Some of the field labels were showing up in Japanese. It had something to do with the browser settings, so it might not be the same issue with you.
I'm interested in know what the exact issues are that you seeing. That might help with finding a solution.

Well, I should have been more precise.
Actually, the import itself worked. I can see the list I imported when I go to
http://www.mySiteCollection.com/_catalogs/lt/Forms/AllItems.aspxThe problem happens when I go to the site where I want to use the list. Under Site Actions / Create, I do not see my custom list. Am I missing something? Maybe there's another step required after the import to make it available?
Under the custom list section I can only see:
Listes personnalisées
Liste personnalisée
Liste personnalisée en mode Feuille de données
Langues et traducteurs
Liste d"indicateurs de performance clés (KPI)
Liste des valeurs de colonnes
Importer une feuille de calculNote that "Liste des valeurs de colonnes" is another custom .STP list that was imported to the list template galery, but this one was created on a FRENCH site collection. This makes be believe that only FRENCH list template can be displayed in a FRENCH site collection, etc.

Alright, did another test (which I should have done before posting to this forum). I just created a new site, in the same site collection, using the ENGLISH Team Site template, and now I do see my ENGLISH list templates, but I no longer see the FRENCH list template.
New questions:
Is there a way to tell the system to display ALL list templates, regardless of the language they were created in?
If not, is there a way to change the language association of a list template?Posted 9 months ago # -
I'll let Chris and Paul handle that one... it's more in their area of expertise.

Any ideas?

I'll take a stab.
Check the .stp file for 1033 as a parameter maybe. If you find it, change it to the localization code for French.
