    Hi,
I followed the below steps to move documents.
    1. Created a template for the existing document library
    2. Created a new document library using the above template
    3. Moved the documents from old library to the new library
Move was successful. But now in the new library in All Documents view, iam not able to find the Modified Column to Sort By the modified Date.

Please help to fix this. I need to use Modified field to Sort in the view, as there are thousands of documents.

  2. Template should keep customizations you made to views, but in any case just modify your view and add this column to it...

    Hi Toni,
The column is listed in the view. But the problem is this column is not available in the Sort list when i try to edit the view.

    thanks

  4. Hm, wicked! :)

Create a new calculated "Modified Sort" column (Date Time type) and copy value of ModifiedOn to it. Then use the newly created column to sort.

    Let me know,

    Hi Toni,
The main intention i moved the documents is to retain the date & time stamp, if i copy now i guess the time stamp will be lost.

  6. Additional column is going to change3 the original Date value. It just copies the value of ModifiedOn to additional column for sorting...

I am not 100% sure why you cannot use the default column, it seems to be a bug, but this workaround should help workaround it.

We have many documents upload daily and if i copy and apply sort, the new items will have problem to sort. Is there any way that i can get back Modified column in the Sort List when i edit the view.

Did you modify the view to display the Modified Column? The Sort section in the All Documents view shows Modified as a sortable column.

It used to show as a sortable column before the move. After the move using Content and Structure feature, there is no "modified" as a sortable column in any of the views.
