I work for a hospital (DoD) and using WSS 3.0 as our Intranet. Due to ‘security’ reasons I was asked if it was possible to give permissions only to ‘parts’ of a site. Here is the situation. We have a SharePoint Home site and post messages to a section called ‘All Hospital Messages’ that is a ‘Content Editor Web Part’. Here is my question: Can I give someone ‘Contribute’ permissions just to add new messages? We have a Public Affairs Officer (PAO) that I need to add. If needed/possible I can send a screen shot of the site. Hope can help.
Thanks

YESCheck "Change list permissions for a specific site group"
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointtechnology/HA011611771033.aspxHowever instead of Content Editor Web Part you should use Announcements instead of Content editor since it does not allow you to control permissions.

You have the ability to over ride pretty much everything that is being displayed, it can quickly become a nightmare to keep up on if you have to do a lot of permission tweaking. If that's the case, be sure to sit down and hash out who needs access to what and create appropriate groups to accomplish that.
