Remove # of List items in collapsed view

When a list is collapsed sharepoint puts a (x) next to the name (in this case) showing the number of items listed under that name. The problem is I have people mistakenly using that number rather then expanding the list and getting the correct number they need.

I've told them over and over to click then check for the total they are looking for but it continues to happen. Is there a way to remove that function off the view? If it's painless I'd rather just fix the view then keep trying to educate.

  2. Yup it is easy :), but you need SharePoint Designer.

Check this screencast by Lee, and then apply the same principle to your view: http://www.endusersharepoint.com/?p=1470

Thanks Toni, I'm still a novice with SPD and been avoiding its use when possible but I think the final list of problems to solve that are still on my list are all SPD solutions. So time to dive into SPD and make some mistakes

  4. Start with Lee's screencast, it is really good and easy, and you will learn the same principle you need to apply to your problem.
