site column in workspace template?

    Hi,
    I would like to create a workspace template with a local list that contains a date/time column. I would like to use this date as a lookup in a document library in the same spot but it doesn't appear. So in a thread I found I have to create a site column. Is this possible to be done in a template as well? The site column should not appear the site column list of the parent pages. Is this possible? I can't use the choice field, as it won't recognize date and time, can I?
