When creating a new library (Wss 3.0) Isn't the option for MS Word, Powerpoint, excel, available? If not can this be set up?

Hi,
In MOSS you cannot to, a library is not limitted to a file type. In MOSS you can create a library for picture or presentation, but it's only for visual use of preview .... you can assign content type and metadata to every library. Do you want to use a presentation for preview use?

If I read the original post correctly I think that the question is how you set up the default document template for the library (the one that's invoked when you click the "New" button). I'm on MOSS but I think that this is the same in WSS; when creating the library the last selection on the creation page is the selection of the default Document Template, and the available templates include most Office templates like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, etc.
You can change the template in an existing document library by uploading a new blank document of the requisite file type to the Forms folder (need to open with Windows Explorer to see it) and then changing the template URL in the Advanced settings for the doc library.
You can of course store most any common file type in any doc library; the template settings apply only when creating new documents in place from the library. If you want multiple templates available then you can enable content types and associate separate content types with different templates.
