Our SP installation was living on Portal.Oldcompanyname.com/<various site collections>. However, we recently underwent a merger and now everyting will need to move to Portal.NEWcompanyname.com/<various site collections>.

Will all my SPD workflows need to be rebuilt after this migration, since they all reference content originating at Oldcompanyname.com?

There has to be a better way!

  2. In short, yes, they'll need to be rebuilt. Workflows do not port well. See Paul Gavin's series here at EUSP.

Are there any other pitfalls we should look for in this process? I am already finding issues with images not appearing.

  4. Images not appearing could be attributed to the URLs to the images pointing to the old location if they are in a Content Editor Web part.

Workflows work for me when the site is backed up and restored, but if there are any hard-coded URL's in the workflows, those will need to be changed. I'd test the workflows out before blowing them away and starting over.
