Good Morning-- I'm trying to find out if it's possible to have Sharepoint action items sync with a Sharepoint calendar. I know that each action item has a field for due date and I would like to have them appear on an associated calendar as I fill in the due dates.

    Is this possible?

  2. JaneBriefcase,

For your action item list you can create a view that shows the list in a calendar view. You can do this from your list by going to the right had side of the menu bar and from "View" select create view. you will then notice that you have four options for creating a view and one of the is a calendar. Select Calendar view and them complete the form to create your calendar of action items.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank You, Peter!

It does help, but I'd like to ultimately be able to sync the calendar with an outlook calendar, which seems to be a feature that's only available with a defined "Calendar" and not just the "Calendar View." Eventually I'm going to use this to track action items for our program managers and probably use the a 3rd party reminders program like "Sharepoint Reminders" from Pentatech to become truly the most annoying data manager ever (but also, the most efficient) :)

Do you know if it's possible to sync the action items calendar with outlook?

  4. The problem you may have--if the Action Items calendar varies from the OOB event content type, Outlook doesn't know to look for those columns. You will either need to write a custom plugin for Outlook to pull that data from the web service or use a 3rd-party tool like Colligo.
