    Here is the scenario:

SharePoint document library in one city (we are running Office 2007). User in another city, running Office 2003.

The workflow sends a notification to the 2003 user that a document is ready for review, including a link which opens the document in user's MS Word 2003. User needs to be able to update the status of the document (change its status to "Reviewed", a SharEPoint property.

In Office 2007, the "Edit Document" button and the Properties panel appear conveniently right above the document viewing window. This will not happen for our 2003 user. How can he easily update this property for each of the 50 documents he will be reviewing this way?

The goal is to NOT have him have to go to the site and manually update each document's properties. Please help!

  2. Nancy,

You can do the same thing with Word 2003. It will not appear above the document but on the right side. Chances are user closed it. It is called Task Pane and you can use it change properties.

Task pane lacks some functionalities of the one in Word 2007 :(.

OK- I was not familiar with the user experience in Word 2003 when opening a document housed in a SharePoint library. As long as there is a way for him to update the property from within Word (and I can help him find it if he can't), we'll be OK. Thanks!
