The new document centre feature of SharePoint 2010 enables documents to be filtered and searched by Meta Tags that are associated with those documents.

I would really appreciate your suggestions, a method to filter a column with multiple users.

The great thing about the DVWP is that it’s just XSL. XSL is what tells the browser what to draw in HTML, so you can go in and remove any of the columns you don’t want the user to filter by.

Do you have a SharePoint site with multiple lists with common columns that are associated with each other?

In the Enterprise version of SharePoint 2007, there is a set of handy out-of-box filter web parts. In this screencast, Laura Rogers will demonstrate the Query String (URL) Filter Web Part in its simplest form

The Content Query Web Part (CQWP) is a pretty powerful beast. It allows you to do multiple site queries and aggregate the results.

One of the most powerful means of filtering, sorting and searching information that has emerged as part of social computing is the use of “tags” to classify content of all types.

As I created the filter, I realized a lot of new SharePoint Site Managers might not know how to use “Today” as a math function when filtering.

SharePoint supports document searching out-of-the box, but with some simple customizations, you can greatly improve the findability of documents.

When there are no items displayed in a list, SharePoint displays a generic message. How and why do you customize the display text in a data view web part? There are just some cases where this message needs to be customized, so that the text is more specific as to why there are no items displayed. In this example, Laura Rogers shows a SharePoint task list web part that is filtered to only show items assigned to [Me]. Then, she shows how to quickly create a data view web part, with a custom message letting end users know why the web part is empty.
