We utilize the Site Planning Workshop I have used to help companies organize their thoughts and resources when implementing their first SharePoint sites. This short screencast shows how the worksheet will be used to structure the information needed when setting up an initial site plan.
I recorded my entire session at SharePoint Saturday in Washington, D.C. on May 2. Here’s the recording. Hope you find it useful. — Mark
At SharePoint Saturday in Boston this weekend, there was a lot of interest when I demo’ed a new idea in the presenter room. Just about everyone wanted the templates I created for generating a quick site plan in Mind Manager.
I just finished a live online workshop session for Simple Site Planning. This comments to this post are from participants of the workshop, with comments and feedback on how it went for them.
Just a heads up that we’re headed for another sellout live online workshop tomorrow with Simple Site Planning. As of this posting, there are 7 seats left. If you are a site manager trying to get a handle on the process for planning a site, check out the description and agenda.
If you’ve been ‘volunteered’ to manage your site and need some help on getting started, plan on joining us this Friday at 1:00pm EST for a quick hands-on workshop, “Simple Site Planning: Get it right the first time!”.
Another live online workshop session has been added for next Friday. If you are in the process of designing a site or need help restructuring an existing one, the Site Planning Worksheet that’s included with this workshop will help you get organized.
On my training site I use Web parts in the more traditional home page concept. Announcements for greeting content, Web content editor that holds a few cut and pasted scripted things like world clocks and tag clouds representing popular searches, then there is a links section, etc. Boilerplate stuff to establish that familiar home page web site feel.
The live, online “Simple Site Planning Workshop” is completed. I thought the session went very well. We took one participant and walked through the process of user analysis and content analysis, ending with a plan for managing the content on a SharePoint site.
