It’s unfortunate that there was no mention of SharePoint Saturday Toronto. It’s on July 11, 2009 at Microsoft Canada HQ and we look forwarding to having your visitors in Canada attend!

  2. Sorry to have missed the mention on the SPS Toronto. When we recorded yesterday, the SharePointSaturday.org site was down, so I was working off the top of my head. — Mark

Re third party products at SPS, I do like knowing new solutions to meet the demands that end users are looking for. However, when a session is strictly focused on that particular product, it becomes to “sales pitchy” and detracts from the purpose.

The session should be geared toward using the OOTB functionality and then demonstrate a particular case or advantage of using the product over the OOTB functions.

The sponsors deserve their time, but shouldn’t be the focus of a session.

Good show. If there is an awesome third party app release, please let us know. How often does that really happen?

  5. Great show. There is also a Twibe for those who design for SharePoint:

BTW: I set this up :-)

  6. Norm Smith says:

My vote would be to skip the product announcements, many of us are not allowed currently to consider spending money, but it would be great to mention some really neat freeware, codeplex tool, or page design tricks for those of us who are trying to do a lot with “in the box” standard edition MOSS.

As always thanks for sharing your incites and knowledge.

  7. Rob Kronick says:

Hi. I am just catching up on your weekly audios, so my email pertains to Week 3 and a comment Joel made about Twibes. He said something about having to hang-out on the Twibes page to get members’ comments as they come in. However, while I was joining the tribe, I clicked on something so that the twitters from the twibe members come into my email. And since the culture where I work is emailed based, it’s very convenient that way.

Now of all the IT people you’ll ever meet, I’m going to be one of the least technically capable ones, no doubt. So if I was able to do this, you guys should be able to (should you choose to) with your eyes closed.

Hope this helps, especially considering how your weekly audio program helps me.

    Rob Kronick
