2009-10-01 Today in SharePoint with Michael Gannotti (Recording)

Michael Gannotti and I had our weekly conversation this morning and it ran about double our usual time, but I found it more than worth the extra few minutes. I am working with MetaVis Technologies at SharePoint Conference 2009 to coordinate over 100 live bloggers and project their live, streaming content onto a 100 inch display. In our conversation, Michael and I talk about the different technologies available for streaming content, the various encoding types available for providing media content over the web, and the pros/cons of available formats.

This is a deeper dive than our normal talks, and I like it. I hope you do, too.

For those on a slow connection, you can download the recording and listen at your convenience.

Locations within the recording (minutes:seconds)

  • 00:00 – The cellphone fiasco
  • 01:21 – Live streaming from SharePoint Conference 2009
  • 05:28 – Live streaming and bandwidth issues
