SharePoint: Through the Looking Glass

LookingGlass, Microsoft, Social MediaStephen Kim from the Microsoft Advertising Group has put together a video demo of a “proof of concept” SharePoint tool for monitoring social media input. This is a show-stopping application if it ever gets to market. The ability to combine disparate sets of internal data and integrate it through realtime dashboard analysis, while monitoring the community response through social media is mind boggling… plus, it all runs in SharePoint!

Here’s a short, 9 minute video to give you a quick overview of the product as it stood last September. I’m not seeing much press about it right now, unless I’m missing something. If you’ve got links, updates or some knowledge of the project, I’d like to hear from you.

    • Mel – Thanks for the pointer to the update. I’d like to stay in the loop on this since it looks like dynamic, real time access to social media analysis is going to be critical to large busines. Please keep us informed. Thanks again. — Mark

This looks amazing. However, based on what I know of SP 2007, there must be so many add on components to make this work the way it was demo’d that I’m thinking this is some kind of Trojan Horse to get you to buy more stuff…

    • Paul,

From my understanding, this is a proof of concept project. The implementation looks like a custom built solution on top of SharePoint. I’ve got some pings in to Microsoft to see if we can get an update and background on how the project is progressing.
