Author: Laura Rogers, Birmingham, AL
SharePoint 911
Today’s screencast from Laura Rogers is a true end-user tip. She quickly demonstrates how to save a file directly from Office programs to SharePoint. This tip applies to all version of SharePoint and all versions of Microsoft Office. Also, when you have favorite document libraries that you work in all the time, use this demonstrated method to save those locations to Office programs. Do this once, and the shortcut will be available on the “Open” and the “Save As” screen in all Office applications on your computer.
Come to the SharePoint Technology Conference (SPTechCon) to take the beginner’s “101” class on SharePoint and Office Integration. This October in Boston, Laura and Mark miller will be presenting this half-day workshop together. Laura also has a new book coming out soon, called Beginning SharePoint 2010: Building Business Solutions with SharePoint.

Very neat! Thanks for sharing those tips
Greg
Love it Laura, thank you!!!! :) Going straight to my users with it. :)
This is wonderful! Thanks! I will share it with all of my site administrators in our weekly tips.
Great tip! This makes it more efficient to open documents that I reference often. I also observed that it still utilizes the check-out and version control features (In Office 2007 at least).
I also finally figured out how to add things to the “Look in” pane. Bonus!
Thanks for the screencast very useful and easy to digest. I’ll be asking my colleagues to watch and adopt and stopping attachment being sent by email
this is very helpful…you’re great as ever! i love you laura!
Very cool Tip!
Is there any workaround for Windows Vista ? Pasting the url into the “filename” field seems not to be supported in Vista.
Very practical tip for users of Microsoft SharePoint. Thank you.
